Greg Kovacic, CFA 中文简历
Greg is a versatile international leader with broad and deep experience in corporate finance, strategy, marketing and operations. He has an established record improving companies’ financial and operational performance in multiple roles, industries and markets.
Originally from the U.S., he first arrived in Asia in the early 1990s as a foreign exchange student in Japan and China. Greg has spent nearly 20 years living and working across Asia, mainly in China, Hong Kong, India and Japan, and has traveled extensively throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and the US.
Since 2008, Greg co-founded Hong Kong-based business consultancy CKB Solutions to work collaboratively with senior executives and entrepreneurs to create real solutions for the real world. With a focus on strategy, corporate finance, marketing and operations, he led engagements across various industries including green/environmental tech, digital, healthcare, infrastructure, insurance, marketing communications, professional services, and non-food consumer retail sourcing. He has worked with well-respected MNC clients such as Philips, Interpublic Group (IPG), McCann Worldgroup, MetLife, Mercer, and Tesco, as well as the Hong Kong Rugby Union.
In 2012, Greg co-founded Hong Kong-based opportunistic investment fund and capital advisory firm Happy Valley Global Investments (HVGI) to connect people, capital and opportunities. Its first fund grew +287% in 3 1/2 years.
In 2015, Greg launched Digital Trust Asia (DTA) to create an advocacy network across Asia to help ensure we are building an internet of trust and not just an internet of things (and threats). As companies rush to scale, digital trust must be a forethought, not an afterthought. Companies must think, act, and design in terms of if it’s not secure end-to-end, it’s not secure. He has spoken about Digital Trust at International Institute of Communications (IIC) events in Singapore and Hong Kong.
Prior to launching CKB, HVGI and DTA, Greg led the corporate development efforts in Asia for the Interpublic Group (IPG), one of the world’s leading advertising and marketing services holding companies. Greg's focus was to advance IPG’s development in the key growth markets of China and India through M&A and operational restructurings. He was the project leader investing ≈US$100m for the buyouts of two JVs in India and the restructuring of a failed JV in China. Greg led the entire deal execution process including negotiation, valuation, leading due diligence teams, transaction structuring, and supporting operating units in their integration/divestiture efforts. He also scouted new digital investment opportunities. 4 of the companies he proposed for investment were acquired several years later by IPG’s competitors.
While with Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) in Hong Kong and China, Greg focused on China and on strategy, operational restructuring, and financial analysis working with Chinese and MNC clients. His largest engagement was leading the financial analysis for the restructuring of China’s SEO Sinotrans prior to their HK IPO. Greg has also held marketing and finance roles with the National Basketball Association (NBA) in Hong Kong, Reebok Japan, Grey Advertising in New York and Kellogg’s Japan.
In addition to being a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder, Greg holds an MBA from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business with an emphasis in corporate finance and marketing, as well as a BA from Syracuse University with an emphasis in international political economy. Greg also spent 2 years attending undergraduate study abroad programs in Japan and China. He is conversant in Japanese and working proficient in Mandarin Chinese. Greg is an avid scuba diver and world wanderer. He also enjoys an active lifestyle and coaching youth rugby with the Hong Kong Football Club.
